Building a Legacy: The Lighthouse Centre, Dudley

In 2020, Gravitas Build completed one of our most rewarding projects—the Lighthouse Centre, a purpose-built facility designed to support Dudley Community Church’s vital services. Two years on, the Centre continues to shine as a beacon of hope, serving thousands of people across the Dudley community.

A Community Vision Realized
The Lighthouse Centre replaced a former public house that, while functional, was no longer fit for purpose. Today, the Centre accommodates up to 90 visitors at a time and offers vital services like counselling, addiction support, and play therapy. Its design ensures privacy and comfort for those accessing help, with dedicated areas for sensitive services and a flexible layout for community events.

A Construction Journey to Be Proud Of
The project wasn’t without its challenges. During the build, unexpected mining activity required engineering changes to the foundations. Despite these hurdles, and in the midst of a global pandemic, the Gravitas Build team worked tirelessly to deliver the Centre to the highest standard.

Our commitment to quality and collaboration with the church committee ensured that the Lighthouse Centre would not only meet but exceed expectations.

A Lasting Impact
Since its completion, the Centre has supported many individuals with services ranging from relationship counselling to workshops on mental health. A popular service is that of The Lighthouse Café, which has provided thousands of meals to local families, contributing to community well-being.
