We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected to construct the new home of Jami Masjid Smethwick, situated on Lewisham Road in Smethwick. The first phase adjacent to the current mosque is ready for work to begin. In this first phase, a two-story steel frame building with external brick walls has been designed to include gothic arched windows and doors that align with a traditional design. Construction begins in late February 2023, with a 26-week program for the first phase and a total project timescale of 40 weeks.
For our part, We are thrilled to take on this project and have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to begin construction. Our involvement in the tender stage for the last six months has only increased our excitement to finally break ground and bring this project to life.

Shaykh Abdus Subhan (Khateeb) stated, “Since the inception of Jami Masjid Smethwick, by Mr Mohammed Musleh Uddin (the first Imam and Islamic teacher) and his peers in the 1970s, the community’s needs and demands have continued to grow.

From the humble beginnings of the front room of a terraced house to the providing a provision that provides to services to more hundreds of people a week. The current facilities have become insufficient for the ever-expanding community. The Masjid runs activities for children, women, and men throughout the day, evening, and weekend, including different classes, congregational prayer, youth activities, spiritual retreats, and social gatherings.

In 2021, the Masjid received planning permission for a purpose-built masjid and community centre to increase prayer space, dedicate space for women, provide classroom facilities, and offer funeral services.
