Warehouse Fit Out West Midlands

We’re always on the lookout for good news in the construction industry and where we can create our own, even better. With this in mind, we’re happy to announce that we were recently appointed as the Principal Contractor to run a £1m warehouse fitout in the Midlands. At 120,000 square metres, this first unit (there are three) was an empty shell when we took over and is to provide warehouse space for an international fulfilment company.
Space very much equates to money in this industry, with every empty space on a shelf equating to money lost. Every square metre, whether at floor level or vertically has a value, so creating a comprehensive program of works whilst adhering to strict health and safety guidelines has been key to the successful, speedy completion of the project.
Things to take into account:

• Overseeing the safe completion of the project.
• Site setup, safe exit and egress.
• Construction phase health and safety plan.
• F10, SMSTS, First Aid, Fire Marshall.
• Permits to work.
• Contractor controls.
• COVID measures implemented.

With the racking taking shape, a phased sectional release could take place. Communication was critical, as was the planning and its implementation. With the released areas segregated and clear demarcation zones in place, the bulging lorries queuing at the doors could finally offload their valuable cargoes. With forklift drivers zapping back and forth, there was a real threat to anyone not paying attention which highlighted the true value of health & safety.
As unit one nears completion, we’re looking forward to moving into the second unit which is 20,000 square metres larger.
