Office Refits come in many shapes and sizes. When the team took on this project in Birmingham, UK, it was to create a separate space for deliveries and storage. With space at a premium, the plan was to utilise a small part of the under-building parking area to create an enclosed passage leading to a new staircase and lift. The stairs and lift provided transport/access for deliveries to a first-floor area, an outdoor space underutilised mainly due to it being open to the elements. To ensure protection from the weather, an extension was built to receive both the lift and staircase. This was connected to a long corridor created by extending an adjoining parapet wall to which a flat roof was added. When completed, all deliveries were made via the car park entrance on the ground floor and kept separate from client areas. It allowed the transition of precious stock to pass from lorry to storage in a secure and weather-protected way.
